SOFTWARE
Software, also called program, is a series/list of instructions that tells the computer.

Software must be installed on computer before you use it. Installing is the process of setting up the software to work with the computer.
Software is the key to productive use of computers. With proper software, a computer can be a valuable tool.
Types of Software are given below.
System Software
System software consists of the programs (instructions) that control or maintain the operations of the computer and its devices. In other words, the system software enables the user and application software to interact with the computer.
OPERATING SYSTEM
Operating System is a set of instructions that coordinates all the activities among computer hardware devices, and allows the users to run application software.
The System Unit
The system unit is a case that contains electronic components of the computer used to process data.
All computers have a system unit.
Major components of the system unit are:
Case (Chassis or System Cabinet)
The Mother Board
The Processor (CPU)
The Memory (RAM & ROM)
Expansion Slots and Adapter Cards
Ports & Connectors
Buses
ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit)
ALU is the section in the CPU that performs arithmetic,comparison, and logical operations.
CONTROL UNIT (CU)
Just like a traffic cop, a control unit directs the flow of electronic traffic within the CPU. In other words it coordinates or manages the computer’s operations.
According to the instructions, received from the decode-unit, the control unit tells the ALU and the resisters what to do. Control Unit performs the role of in-charge in the CPU components.
